    • Overview

Osteoporosis is a prevalent disease, as approximately 10 million Americans have osteoporosis and another 44 million have low bone density, placing them at increased risk. Furthermore, 1 in 2 women and up to 1 in 4 men will break a bone in their lifetime due to osteoporosis. For women, this incidence of bone breakage is greater than that of a heart attack, stroke, and breast cancer combined. This session seeks to indicate the major risk factors for developing osteoporosis and identifying strategies to reduce these risk factors. In addition, this session seeks to determine the appropriate methods to diagnose osteoporosis. Also, this session seeks to select best drug treatment options for osteoporosis patients.
