    • Overview

In a podcast style discussion, Mike Corvino, PharmD and Cole Swanson, PharmD discuss migraine treatment and prevention. They review the pharmacotherapy options currently available for managing an acute migraine as well as medications used for migraine prophylaxis. They examine calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) antagonists, triptans, ergotamine derivatives, and more. Pharmacists and nurses regularly encounter patients who suffer from migraines. It is important that pharmacists and nurses understand the appropriate use of these medications and know how to identify patients who could benefit from one pharmacological class over another. This session seeks to explore these topics, focusing on how this information can best be incorporated into daily medical practice.
