Overview
As the niche of pharmaceutical compounding continues to emerge in pharmacy practice, pharmacists are increasingly finding themselves in need of long forgotten skills in basic pharmacy calculations. As pharmacy technician roles evolve, a working understanding of the ‘math behind the art’ becomes a critical component to a safe pharmacy practice. This activity will familiarize participants with common units of measure and pharmaceutical calculations utilized during the nonsterile compounding process. Through use of example problems, participants will have the opportunity to practice calculations involving proportions, expressions of concentration, the allegation method, and more. Join us as we re-visit these fundamental tools of the trade!
