This module is part of the General Pain Specialty Series, which explores overall pain management considerations, best practices, and pain conditions. This module examines the overlapping concerns of pain management and substance use disorder (addiction) and explores the correlation between the rate of overdose deaths and the rate of prescribing of opioid medications. Morphine milligram equivalent dosing is discussed within the context of the CDC's 2016 chronic pain opioid guidelines.
