    • Overview

Integrative pharmacy seeks to recognize the value of a holistic and systematic approach to health and wellness.  This module is part of a comprehensive series that examines the pharmacist’s role in integrative medicine.  In this module, digestive health is explored, with a focus on the role that the microbiome plays in one's overall health. The different kinds of living organisms which exist within the biome are examined, with considerations given to disease states which may stem from an unhealthy microbiome.  Nutraceuticals for managing the microbiome are examined in detail.  Proper guidance by a knowledgeable pharmacist can help patients improve their state of health and inherent sense of well-being.
