    • Overview

In a podcast style discussion, Mike Corvino, PharmD and Cole Swanson, PharmD examine the updated 2022 AHA/ACC/HFSA Guideline for the Management of Heart Failure.  The global economic burden of heart failure is estimated to be $108 billion annually. The U.S accounts for 28.4% of this cost. There have been a number of landmark clinical trials leading to practice changing recommendations in recent years, aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality in patients with heart failure. This guideline evaluates this new data and applies it to the recommendations. Pharmacists and nurses regularly encounter patients with heart failure. It is important that pharmacists and nurses understand the appropriate use of the relevant medications and know how to identify patients who could benefit from them. This session seeks to explore these topics, focusing on how this information can best be incorporated into daily medical practice.
