    • Overview

The rates of American adults with obesity have continued to increase over the past decade with more individuals seeking pharmacotherapy to assist with weight loss. Pharmacists are in a critical role to help provide recommendations, insight into efficacy of therapies, and counseling on prescribed medications. It is important for providers to be knowledgeable and feel confident regarding currently approved therapies, data with over-the-counter supplementation, and other emerging products. Additionally, providers must recognize pharmacokinetic and dosing considerations in patients who are obese. This session seeks to provide insight into the realm of weight loss pharmacotherapy and implications of pharmacokinetic impacts in obesity.
