  Overview

  Pharmacists are on the front lines when it comes to supplements. Our prescribers are very comfortable with prescribing many of the supplements in this unit, so long as they can be monitored with blood tests. We dispense a lot of calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium daily from prescriptions, as they are easily monitored with blood tests. When it comes to herbals and supplements, we are on our own. The realm of supplementation is left entirely to the pharmacist. This module will explore, in depth, the fourteen most common herbals and supplements that patients inquire about, along with the anions and cations commonly prescribed.
