Overview
The majority of antibiotic prescriptions are written in the outpatient setting, one-third of which are considered inappropriate. This, combined with the notable increase in antimicrobial resistance and associated regulatory standards, requires a renewed focus on antibiotic prescribing in outpatient settings. This presentation will focus on key considerations, challenges, and opportunities for targeting antimicrobial stewardship in the outpatient setting, including the emergency department, urgent care, and ambulatory care settings.
