    Associate Director of Experiential Education, Midwestern University, Chicago College of Pharmacy

    Susan Cornell, BS, Pharm.D, CDCES, FAPhA, FADCES is the associate director of experiential education and professor in the department of pharmacy practice at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy in Downers Grove, Illinois. Dr. Cornell is also a certified diabetes care and education specialist.   

    Dr. Cornell’s current clinical practice is with the Bolingbrook Christian Health, where she trains, educates, and supervises students from the colleges of medicine, pharmacy, dental and health sciences, as they provide diabetes education classes, as well as, individual diabetes care and medication therapy management for patients in numerous underserved community clinics.

    Dr. Cornell served as President of the Illinois Pharmacists Association in 2011. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the 2021, 2019 and 2011 Outstanding Faculty Advisor, 2017 Outstanding Illinois Diabetes Educator of the Year, 2014 Bowl of Hygeia, 2010 Teacher of the Year and the 2005 Midwestern University Golden Apple Teaching Award to list a few. She is an active member of the American Diabetes Association, where she served from 2017-2019 as an abstract reviewer for the Scientific Sessions Annual Meetings. She is also actively involved with the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, where she served on their board of directors from 2004 to 2007 and continues to assist on various committees, including the 2020 Professional Practice committee.

    Dr. Cornell has been invited to give numerous presentations to various healthcare professionals and community groups, worldwide. She has served as editor, as well as, published and contributed to many peer-reviewed, professional written and online publications. Recently, Dr. Cornell served as the associate editor of the ADCES Diabetes Desk Reference- 5th edition.

    Dr. Cornell is also an author in the Rx Consultant's June issue on diabetes.
