Director of Accreditation and Medication Safety, Cardinal Health
Helen McKnight has more than 25 years’ experience in health system pharmacy. She has expertise in academic medical centers, community hospitals, and healthcare administration.
Prior to joining Cardinal Health, Helen was the Director of Pharmacy Services for a 505-bed acute care hospital in Central Alabama. Her primary responsibilities encompassed pharmacy operations, oversight of clinical services, pharmacy residency programs, and provision of pharmaceutical patient care needs. She has also practiced pharmacy leadership in Upstate New York and South Florida. Helen is a frequent speaker at state and local pharmacy professional organizations on topics such as diversity culture, sterile compounding, medication safety, and regulatory compliance.
Helen is an adjunct professor for University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy, MS-Health Services Administration/Health Institution Leadership program. She teaches a spring semester class on human capital planning. Helen was appointed an Affiliate Clinical Instructor of Pharmacy Practice for Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and an Affiliate Assistant Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice for Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy. She has served as a preceptor for Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience students and Post-Graduate Year One residents completing hospital system practice rotations.
Helen is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Society of Health System Pharmacists, and the Alabama Society of Health System Pharmacists.
