Michelle Niehaus, LCSW, has focused her career on Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. After initial classes in American Sign Language at Indiana University in Bloomington, she designed a concentration in Deaf Services at Washington University in St. Louis. Her Master’s in Social Work integrated clinical practice with social and economic development. In her twenty-five year career, Ms. Niehaus has worked in both Community Mental Health Centers and in state government. She currently serves as the Program Administrator for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services with the Department for Behavioral Health. Developmental, & Intellectual Disabilities in Kentucky. Board memberships include Early Hearing Detection & Intervention, the KY Board of Interpreters Policy Committee, and the KY Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She has presented regionally and nationally most recently at the Hands & Voices national conference and for the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors.
