    • Overview

Each year, close to one million poisonings in children less than 6 years of age are reported to U.S. poison centers. Most could have been prevented with proper storage and proper use of medicines and household products. Pharmacists and other health care providers need to have a good understanding of why pediatric poisonings occur to play an important role in educating families about poison prevention.
