    • Overview

When a person becomes unresponsive, quick action is essential. Basic Life Support (BLS) is to be implemented immediately and may be initiated by any layperson. Once emergency responders are on-site and involved, care becomes more in-depth, hence advanced cardiac life support (ACLS). Specific common medications and supplies are critical to these resuscitation efforts. This session provides an overview of medications and supplies included, for what and how they are utilized for life-saving efforts, and the importance of the technician in contributing to safe and effective dispensing. With a focus on pharmacology for the curious pharmacy technician, each medication will be discussed, and context and examples will be provided to aid understanding.
