    • Overview

Complaints of pain are one of the most frequent reasons patients seek our expertise for self-care. Pharmacists have some excellent tools to help manage these complaints with respect to NSAIDs, acetaminophen, as well as topical therapy. But like any drug product, side effects can cause deleterious effects if given to the wrong patient, or at the wrong dose. Although these drugs have been available a number of years, more and more data shows their side effects in the aging population. Even though these medications are available without a prescription, a pharmacist's expertise will indeed help our patients achieve maximum relief while minimizing the potential for harm.
