    • Overview

"Be prepared" is the motto of the Boy Scouts, who attract millions of youth to their outdoor programs. Preparation is essential every time we take our families outside, whether to enjoy a picnic on our back deck, or set out on a 3-day backpacking trip. Even our trips to the beach will require preparation with sunscreen, insect repellent, and a very adequate first aid kit. We can't treat everything over the counter, like anaphylaxis or snakebites, but adequate knowledge of these situations will insure that we seek professional help immediately.
