    • Overview

According to a 2019 Kaiser Family Foundation report, nearly 300 million Americans have some form of health insurance coverage. Unfortunately, a recent survey found that only ten percent of those with insurance had a basic understanding of common insurance concepts such as deductible, co-insurance, or out of pocket maximum. This has left pharmacists and other health care providers playing an important role in helping to bridge the information gap between insurance plans and patients. This session seeks to explain the basic principles of health insurance and defines the common insurance terms.
