    • Overview

As shingles can result in serious medical complications, it is a topic of frequent concern for patients. This relatively common condition accounts for approximately 1 million cases annually and can be addressed in the pharmacy.

This session seeks to examine the circumstances under which shingles vaccination is advised. Available vaccines are examined using clinical studies as a foundation for the evaluation. Finally, patient barriers are discussed as they relate to immunization and the role of the pharmacist and pharmacy technician is examined within the context of practice scope.
