  Overview

  Pharmacies around the country are becoming increasingly overwhelmed with workload. In many states, legislation has been passed allowing pharmacy technicians to become immunization certified which has been shown to decrease pharmacists’ workload and increase productivity of the pharmacy. As pharmacy technician roles expand, it is important to be aware of the responsibilities that will be expected. These responsibilities include administering and storing vaccines, discussing outcomes with patients, and using screening tools to identify whether or not a pharmacists’ intervention is needed. In this course, we will review the expanding roles of pharmacy technicians and describe proper immunization techniques.
